Five Years & Counting

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Five years ago, in the heart of Ghana, a vision was born. A vision to create a world where Africans loudly celebrate who they are unapologetically. A world where there is no shame in both our traditional and modern products. A world where we share with those outside of the continent: who we are and pave the way for them to join us in celebrating African excellence.

Thus, Aphro Spirit was founded.

From the onset, Aphro Spirit made a pledge to remain authentically African. Sourcing local ingredients, supporting small-scale farmers, and employing traditional techniques passed down through generations. Our bottles feature vibrant designs inspired by African art, and each product tells a story of heritage and pride. This commitment resonated with consumers, who were eager to support a brand that honored and uplifted their cultural identity.

The early years were fraught with challenges. Competing with established brands in the crowded alcohol market was no small feat. However, the team’s dedication and the unique appeal of our products began to attract attention. Word spread, and soon, Aphro found its way into bars, restaurants, and homes. In the year 2020, Aphro won the award for the Spirit of The Year at the Ghana beverage awards.

Today, Aphro Spirits stands proudly among the big players in the alcohol industry in Ghana whiles making waves in the international scene. Currently, Aphro is present in not only Ghana, but also in the USA, UK, Nigeria, Kenya, Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon etc. The journey from a small distillery to a household name is far from over, in fact, it is just starting. This journey is a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence and deep respect for our heritage as Africans, and our unresolving commitment to put Africa in the centre stage of global recognition.

As we celebrate Aphro’s fifth anniversary, we reflect on how far the brand has come and look forward to a future filled with promise and potential. We raise a glass to the past, present, and future, inviting everyone to join us on this journey of celebration, pride, and African excellence.
